Five Easy Steps to Losing Belly Fat

While there are some schemes out there that may want you to try out their products to lose the flab quickly, the truth is that you will probably need some diet and exercise advice in order to get your belly flab under control. Here are a few tips to help you get started on the right path.

It's a lot harder to achieve a flatter tummy just by lazing around. Some physical activity is required if you want to lose belly fat fast. Choose something that you enjoy doing so that exercising seems less painful. If the idea of running on a treadmill doesn't sound like a nice idea, than how about a nice peaceful walk in the park? Give yourself 30-45 minutes 3 days a week. This will increase your metabolism and your body will get a chance to burn away the belly fat faster.

Engage in regular exercise routines, such as a half hour power walk before breakfast. Remain active all day by taking the stairs, cleaning, gardening, standing while you talk on the telephone, sitting up rather than lounging as you watch television and periodic stretching when for extended periods of time. Staying active throughout the day in small ways is a beneficial, easy way to burn fat all day.

This is one of the most commonly skipped meals, yet it is completely important to eat in the mornings to control your diet. If you don't eat anything past (for example) 6 PM, then wake up at 6 AM, your body has already gone 12 hours without a fuel source. If you try to push that off until let's say 12 noon, then your body will probably enter "starvation" mode because it thinks you don't have enough food to operate all of your systems. This not only slows down your metabolism, it actually makes it more difficult for you to lose weight.

Increase your intake of Omega-3 Fatty Acids. The benefits derived from increasing your Omega-3 intake is huge, but when trying to lose belly fat, Omega-3's help balance our blood sugars (thus reducing our insulin levels) and curbing our appetites, and helps up absorb Leptin, the bodies natural appetite suppressant. One tablespoon of Cod Liver Oil each day will do the trick.

Cut out the trans fats - Trans fats aren't just bad for your health. They're also bad for your belly! One recent study showed that monkeys who were fed a diet that included trans fat had 30% more belly fat than monkeys who ate "good" fats like omega-3 and monounsaturated fats... even though both groups ate the same amount of calories! Fortunately, many products are now offered in "trans fat free" versions and, of course, the healthiest foods are naturally free of these dangerous fats.

Incorporate those healthy choices into several small meals throughout the day. Eating 3-4 small meals with a couple of healthy snacks will help keep your metabolism revved up to burn that belly fat.
