ABOUT FLAVIA DEL MONTE

I have always been connected to female fitness in one way or another. As I was growing up, sports were a big part of my life. After attending college for Nursing, I began to have a slightly unhealthy lifestyle for the first time. I began to eat 'convenient' food and was socializing over beer and wings.

Because I now had a busy full time career, I didn't make time for sports anymore. I gained 15 pounds of fat, mostly around my mid-section. My husband says I could have been the face for "Flabbylicious Fitness" if I didn't change my ways.

I was 24 and rolley for the first time in my life. It was really depressing. I knew I needed a change. I joined a gym and hired a personal trainer as I was intimidated by weights and all the machines.

I lost 12 pounds within the first month of working out. I saw muscle in my arms that I had never seen before. Of course I LOVED IT! The next few years was an on again, off again type of exercise. When I was about to go on vacation, I would workout, drop weight and when I got back from vacation, I wasn't moti- vated until it was time to leave again.

It wasn't until I began to become interested in nutrition, that things really changed. I hated doing these crazy diets every time I wanted to look good again. I realized the only reason I was re- bounding was related to the crazy, stupid, carb-free diets I would go on in order to lose the weight fast.

This transformation still did not come easily. I was now "eating healthy", so I thought, but why was there still fat where my abs should be? I was also now exercising regularly with weights, sometimes spending 2 hours on legs. The only difference came when I would run for hours dur- ing the week and cut so many things out of my "healthy diet".

I began to study nutrition and became, some would say, obsessed with weight training and nutrition. I was making better food choices and was looking pretty good when... drum roll please... I met my future husband, Vince Del Monte.

For those of you who don't know Vince, he is a best-selling fitness author, fitness expert and fitness model. From the second date (a crazy run up and down hills), he began to teach me things that literally changed my life. As I began to put into practice all the things Vince taught me, such as how to build muscle, lift properly, as well as the introduction to HIT and proper nutrition, I saw my body transform every week!

I loved the knowledge that I was gaining and decided that I wanted to learn more. I became a certified personal trainer and was training all my friends and nursing colleagues. I realized that the missing component was a strong nutrition background.

I appeared in a few of Vince's YouTube videos and then had my Facebook Inbox flooded with emails asking me for advice and I really wanted to help them discover the same info that changed my body around. One of my coaches says this...

Being a Registered Nurse gave me a solid knowledge base of nutrition; i.e., how food works in the body, calories, human need for nutrition, but most of the nutrition I practiced was related to sick children, as I am a pediatric nurse.

After looking into a second degree in nutrition, Vince introduced me to a course from Precision Nutrition created by Dr. John Berardi and Ryan Andrews (MS, MA, RD). Dr. Berardi is a genius in sports nutrition and has his Doctorate in Exercise Physiology and Nutrient Biochemistry. He is regarded as the number one nutrition expert in the world and I have to agree.

The Essentials of Sport and Exercise Nutrition Certification Manual is a Masters level nutrition course for elite training professionals.

How thorough is the Precision Nutrition Certification? Very. The course is part of a High-Performance Physiology Masters Degree program at EMU. And the PN Certification covers the very same material that Dr. Berardi's Masters students learn as part of the EMU program. So be assured, this is an elite certification based on grad school material.

Since taking this in-depth course, I have gained extensive amounts of knowledge that will CHANGE your physique FOREVER! I want to share my knowledge with YOU, and with women all over the world who suffer from insecurity and struggle with every known diet on the planet! It is time to change your habits and adopt a healthy lifestyle that is so satisfying, you will find your nutrition and fitness changes EASY to adopt and wish you had met me sooner!

Three Health Benefits of Kettlebell Exercises

Kettlebells can provide an athlete with a great workout, and can be very beneficial to his or her health. Kettlebells basically look like a ball with a triangular handle, and is very common in different lifts or presses. An athlete can choose to swing the kettlebell for a pretty effective workout, and there are many positive aspects to this exercise routine.

Here are three of the best health benefits that kettlebell exercises offer an athlete, which can help him or her maintain a healthy lifestyle.

Can Tone Muscles

If an athlete chooses to exercise with a kettlebell, then he or she will notice toner muscles, which is great for maintaining a nice physique. Since kettlebells are small, an athlete has the ability to target certain muscles or muscle groups, which can tone specific muscles. Kettlebell exercises are part resistance training and part strength training, both of which are essential for toning muscles. An athlete can swing the kettlebell around in a variety of directions, which can help him or her tone or define certain parts of his or her body. An athlete that has toned muscles is more likely to perform better during sports, and feel more energized during athletic activity. An athlete that does kettlebell exercises regularly also will notice he or she has a more defined body, which can increase his or her speed on the field.

Can Increase Coordination

An athlete that exercises with a kettlebell is also going to have better coordination and control, which is very beneficial during athletic activity. Using a kettlebell requires an athlete to focus on swinging the kettlebell in a gradual manner, which means he or she needs to have proper muscle coordination. Although kettlebells are usually lighter than most other weights, it still requires an athlete to maintain proper control during exercise, and this leads to an increase in overall coordination. If an athlete can swing the kettlebell around without a problem, then he or she is more likely to have better arm, hand, and muscle coordination. Coordination is essential for an athlete, since coordination controls how he or she performs during sports, and helps him or her control muscle movement. Coordination is also important for an athlete because it can help him or her move quickly during fast paced sports, which can prevent injuries.

Can Improve Cardiovascular Health

An athlete that chooses to workout using kettlebells will also notice an improvement to his or her cardiovascular health. Cardiovascular health is very important for an athlete, since the heart controls everything within the body, and can make him or her perform at maximum level. If an athlete uses the lighter kettlebells to exercise, then he or she can improve cardiovascular stamina, which helps him or her boost performance during sports. The kettlebell exercises can increase in duration or intensity, which can help an athlete burn more calories without becoming fatigued. If an athlete performs kettlebell exercises, he or she will become less tired during physical activity, which can motivate him or her to keep exercising. If an athlete does regular kettlebell exercises, he or she will have better blood flow to the heart, which can increase overall heart health, and increase overall circulation within the body.

Physical Fitness and Exercises

Autor: william smith :: Views: 521 :: :: View PDF :: Print View

Physical Fitness is the ability of the human body to function with vigor and alertness, without undue fatigue, and with ample energy to engage in leisure activities, and to meet physical stresses. Muscular strength and endurance, cardio respiratory integrity, and general alertness are the overt signs of physical fitness.

Physical fitness is usually measured in relation to functional expectations?that is, typically, by periodic tests measuring strength, endurance, agility, coordination, and flexibility. In addition, stress testing, which ascertains the body's accommodation to powerful, sustained physical stimuli, is used to analyze fitness. If individuals are able to accommodate to the stressors, they are assumed to be fit.

The level of physical fitness can be influenced by regular, systematic exercise. Moderate activity will maintain the individual at a level that is usually adequate to handle ordinary stress. If the fitness level is to be improved, however, it is necessary to participate in more intensive exercise that overloads the physiological systems and thus promotes change.

Exercises that demand total body involvement improve and maintain fitness most effectively?for example, jogging, running, swimming, vigorous dancing, cycling, and brisk walking. Organized games and sports have long rest periods within the play design have only minimal influence on fitness. Programs especially planned to help individuals attain fitness are offered in numerous places: schools and gymnasiums, private clubs and studios, and special, professionally organized clinics that are attentive to problems of cardiac and pulmonary function. The individual must be careful in choosing an exercise program and should ensure it is staffed by experts in physical education or medicine.

Normal, healthy individuals may plan their own exercise programs. The general rule is to exercise only until discomfort is experienced?that is, until breathing becomes labored, circulation seems inadequate, or fatigue influences performance. People with health problems caused by heart attacks, strokes, and illness should see a physician before devising an exercise program.

Proper nutrition is important to physical fitness, because energy expenditure depends on nutrition. If diet is inadequate, the fitness level will drop. Overweight, underweight, and weak individuals will have below average fitness levels

Generally, longer periods of exercise can reduce the risk of heart disease for the individual. Yet many individuals and organizations promote fitness through extreme means. Such programs should be approached with skepticism and caution. The attainment and maintenance of physical fitness, coupled with nutritious diet and reasonable rest patterns, require dedication to a long-term, systematic investment in an active life.
