Diet Plan: The Cheater's Diet

Hi, my name is Lisa Moskovitz and I'm a registered dietitian and certified in the state of New York, with a private practice on the upper east side. I specialize in weight management, exercise and sports nutrition. And I'll be talking to you about diets.
The Cheater's Diet allows you to do exactly that - cheat on your diet. During the week, you follow a lower-calorie high-exercise regimen, mostly following the Mediterranean style of eating. Plenty of plant based foods and some healthy fats. You're allowed to indulge in any of your favorite foods on the weekends to prevent your metabolism from going into starvation mode. So during the week, you keep to a very strict diet with plenty of exercise. On the weekends you're free to indulge in any of your favorite foods, while keeping your metabolism at it's peak.

While on the one hand it promotes a Mediterranean style of eating which we know is linked to a longer life and better health. On the other hand, an entire weekend to indulge in whatever you want can be a little dangerous. Eating whatever you want for two days, in my opinion, can reverse all that hard work you did during the week.
