Hemorrhoid is a medical condition in which the anal veins are swollen due to added pressure on them. It is a common condition in pregnant ladies and men of old age. Having a hemorrhoid is a very painful disease and can be very disgusting, therefore it should be reported to the medical doctor as soon as one finds any symptoms of hemorrhoid which include pain during passing stool, bleeding, severe pain with bowel movements, swollen anus, abnormal itching on anus and moistening and leakage of stool from anus. If you are experiencing any of such symptoms, you should consult a doctor for early hemorrhoid treatment.
Hemorrhoid can be internal or external. Internal hemorrhoid is mostly painless and difficult to detect until later stages, external hemorrhoid is easily detectable in the earlier stages which helps so that the hemorrhoid treatment can start early. Consulting a medical practitioner should be your first priority if you happen to have any of the symptoms mentioned above. If your doctor confirms hemorrhoid, there is no need to worry, in fact being worried will only worsen the case as stress causes and worsens hemorrhoid. Keep yourself relaxed all the time. Follow doctor's advice and medication. But apart from regular medical hemorrhoid treatment, there are some things that you can do on your own to relieve your pain.
Hemorrhoid treatment begins with your lifestyle. Do not eat junk food; eat fresh vegetables and fruits instead. Drink milk and take fiber rich foods like whole wheat grain or cereals. Do not be lazy, sitting down on the toilet for long can cause and worsen the hemorrhoid. Be active and do brisk walk at least if you cannot do any other exercise. Drink a lot of water and keep your body hydrated. Take regular showers and keep your anal region clean. Hemorrhoids can cause stool leakage sometimes, if it is not cleaned you can end up having infections. Do not smoke or use alcohol. Bringing these lifestyle changes will already relieve you of much pain and lessen the degree of your hemorrhoid severity.
The next step in hemorrhoid treatment is hygiene and care of the anal region. Use moistened towels and wipes to clean your anal region. Use ice bags for ten minutes after every few hours. Put some salt in hot water tub and sit in it for 15 minutes, at least twice or thrice a day. This hot and cold routine will stop the blood supply to the hemorrhoid and much of your pain will be gone. Use cleansing creams and lotions, baby wipes and tucks to ensure high quality hygiene. Use only loose cotton under pants. Do not let your anal region get moist for a sustained period of time, it can cause infections and worsen your condition. And whatever you are doing, just rush to the bathroom as soon as you feel a bowel movement. Stopping it can increase pressure on the hemorrhoid and increase its severity.
Following the above mentioned steps will provide you with enough relief; however they are not an alternative to hemorrhoid treatment by a medical expert. You should act on his or her advice. In the worst case scenario the last option for treatment of hemorrhoid might be a surgery, but you should not be worried about it as it is only a minor one which will heal quickly.
There are many hemorrhoid treatment available, it is advisable however to visit your doctor prior to using any of them.
